IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ADDING CLASSES:
FALL/SPRING SEMESTERS: During the 2nd week of the semester, even though the seat count indicates that there are seats available in a class, students may only add full term classes with an Add Authorization Number that they will receive from the instructor. Add Authorization Numbers will be provided to waitlisted students first, and to additional students only if the instructor is able to admit additional students after all students on the waitlist have been added. Short-term classes that have already begun and appear as open in the STATUS column require an Add Authorization Number to add.

SUMMER SESSIONS and SHORT-TERM CLASSES: During Summer sessions and for short-term classes, Add Authorization Numbers are required as of the first class meeting even if it appears that there are open seats in the class. Add Authorization Numbers will be provided to waitlisted students first, and to additional students only if the instructor is able to admit additional students after all students on the waitlist have been added. Only the instructor can provide Add Authorization Numbers, and all numbers must be used before the end of the late enrollment period.

Open to Enrollment: Each course offered by the Ventura County Community College District and its colleges is open to enrollment and participation by any person who has been admitted to the college and who meets the prerequisites to the class or program, unless specifically exempted by statute.

Deadlines: Check the deadline dates and view important information for a class by clicking on the CRN link.

Additional Notes NOTE: CRN 30989 is being offered fully online. There will be no orientation or in-person class meetings. All activities and assignments will be completed and submitted online. You will need to enter the virtual class room as soon as the classroom becomes available on 1/12/15 (and no later than by Wednesday, 1/14/15) and make an introduction post on the discussions board set up for this purpose. You will also need to complete mini-quiz within “quizzes” by 1/14/15. These two activities will constitute your first week class attendance. Failure to complete BOTH these activities will result in your being dropped from class. The textbook is required, and you will need to use it throughout the semester, starting from the first day of class. To be able to participate regularly in class activities and complete this class successfully you must have easy access to a fairly new computer and fast and reliable internet. Please enter the class and familiarize yourself with the class layout and the various function tabs in the classroom and download the class syllabus from the basic information learning module in “content.” You will receive an email from the instructor before the first day of class with additional information. If you have questions, please email your instructor at iedwards@vcccd.edu.

Additional Notes NOTE: CRN 32630 History R102 Online: Dr. Lieser. On the first day of class (as indicated in the OC schedule), you will be required to do two things: Orient yourself to the course (click on "MyCourses" in your my.vcccd.edu account, click on the class name, and follow the posted instructions) and reply to an email that will be sent to your OC email address asking for verification that you have purchased the required textbooks - U.S. A Narrative History Volume II: Since 1865 (Second Edition) and Major Problems in American History Volume II: Since 1865 (Third Edition). If you do not log into the class or fail to reply to the email asking for confirmation on your textbook purchase by 11:59pm on the first day, you will be dropped from the course. History is a fun and enriching subject, but this online class is very demanding and requires a serious student. You will need to commit to reading and homework assignments that average six hours a week, have good study habits and computer skills, have daily access to an updated computer with broadband Internet, and check you emails regularly (otherwise this course is not for you).

The actual class starts exactly as indicated in the Oxnard College schedule. First day of class attendance is required (even for waitlisted students) and you must have your textbook on the first day (The American Past, Vol. II, 9th ed., by Joseph Conlin). If you have not shown up by 11:59 pm on the first day with your textbook, you will be dropped from the course.
