Important Fees may be due at the time of registration. See the Fees Information Page for due dates and drop information. Students must attend/participate on the first day of class or may be dropped from the class by the instructor. It is the student's responsibility to drop class(es) by the appropriate deadline. Students who remain enrolled after the last date to drop with a refund are not eligible for a refund and remain financially responsible for payment of fees even if they drop the class or are dropped by their instructor.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ADDING CLASSES:
FALL/SPRING SEMESTERS:
Open classes can be added through the end of the 1st week of the semester. During the 2nd week of the semester, even though the seat count indicates that there are seats available in a class, students may only add full-term classes with an Add Authorization Number that they will receive from the instructor. Only the instructor can provide Add Authorization Numbers, and all numbers must be used by the last date to add a class.
SUMMER SESSIONS and SHORT-TERM CLASSES:
During Summer sessions and for short-term classes, Add Authorization Numbers are required as of the first class meeting even if it appears that there are open seats in the class. Only the instructor can provide Add Authorization Numbers, and all numbers must be used by the last date to add class.
HYBRID/PARTIALLY-ONLINE CLASSES:
Courses that require classroom attendance with an online component.
HYFLEX CLASSES:
Certain hybrid/partially-online classes are designed to provide students with more flexibility in their mode of attendance. These HyFlex classes involve class sessions in which some students attend class meetings in-person with the instructor on campus, and some students attend remotely and synchronously via a live Zoom meeting.

For more information on how to search on specific modes of instruction offered, see the Map Your Future website and click on Modes of Instruction Offered.

Additional Notes NOTE: CRN 30989 is being offered fully online. There will be no orientation or in-person class meetings. All activities and assignments will be completed and submitted online. You will need to enter the virtual class room as soon as the classroom becomes available on 1/12/15 (and no later than by Wednesday, 1/14/15) and make an introduction post on the discussions board set up for this purpose. You will also need to complete mini-quiz within “quizzes” by 1/14/15. These two activities will constitute your first week class attendance. Failure to complete BOTH these activities will result in your being dropped from class. The textbook is required, and you will need to use it throughout the semester, starting from the first day of class. To be able to participate regularly in class activities and complete this class successfully you must have easy access to a fairly new computer and fast and reliable internet. Please enter the class and familiarize yourself with the class layout and the various function tabs in the classroom and download the class syllabus from the basic information learning module in “content.” You will receive an email from the instructor before the first day of class with additional information. If you have questions, please email your instructor at iedwards@vcccd.edu.

Additional Notes NOTE: CRN 32293 History R101A Hybrid (9 Weeks): US History to 1877, Dr. Lieser. On the first day of class (as indicated in the OC schedule), you will be required to do two things: Orient yourself to the course on Desire2Learn (click on "MyCourses" in your my.vcccd.edu account, click on the class name, find the syllabus under the Content tab and follow the posted instructions) and also verify that you have purchased the required textbooks - U.S. A Narrative History Volume I: to 1865 (Sixth Edition) and Major Problems in American History Volume I: to 1877 (Third Edition). You must do this by uploading a copy of your receipts or a "selfie" of you with your books to the required link on Desire2Learn, found under the Content tab. If you do not log into the class or fail to reply to complete the assignment confirming your textbook purchase by 11:59pm on the first day, you will be dropped from the course. History is a fun and enriching subject, but this online class is very demanding and requires a serious student. You will need to commit to reading and homework assignments that average at least six hours a week, have good study habits and computer skills, have daily access to an updated computer with broadband Internet, and check you emails regularly (otherwise this course is not for you).

Additional Notes NOTE: CRN 32081 This course, “History of the US II,” covers the fascinating history of the United States from the Civil War to the present. If you plan on taking just one US History course, you can take this exciting course or “History of the US I.” (They are both taught at the same skill level and you do not have to take “History of the US I” before taking this course.) This course is fully online (there are no face-to-face meetings, unless you attend office hours.) On the first day of class (as indicated in the OC schedule), you will be required to do two things: First, you must orient yourself to the course (click on “My Courses” in your my.vcccd.edu account, click on the class name, and follow the posted instructions) and second you must reply to an email that will be sent to you asking for verification that you have purchased the required textbook (The American Past, Vol. II, 9th ed., by Joseph Conlin.) If you do not log into the class or fail to reply to the email asking for confirmation that you have the textbook in your possession, by 11:30 pm on the first day, you will be dropped from the course. History is a fun and enriching subject, but online classes are very demanding and require a serious student. You will need to commit to reading and homework assignments that range from 6-9 hours a week, have good study habits and computer skills, have daily access to an updated computer with broadband Internet, and check your emails regularly (otherwise this course is not for you).
